About Ruth Will

Dr. Ruth graduated from Arcadia University just outside Philadelphia, PA 8 years ago.  Much of her continued skill development was sparked by her own journey of feeling more at home in her body after an autoimmune diagnosis right before grad school. She learned of the IPA approach from a clinical instructor doing PNF, and chose to go “all in” after feeling her running form improve (at the time training for her 3rd and last marathon).

She went through the IPA residency, starting in Virginia where she is from, and ultimately leading her to move to Eugene, Oregon to learn Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation with Mike Baum. She completed the CFMT process in 2018. A co-worker introduced her to visceral manipulation with the Barral Institute soon after, and found physical relief from musculoskeletal symptoms that weren’t resolved with traditional stretching and exercise (as well as emotional relief for not feeling guilty at not doing her HEP enough!). She has continued on to learn Craniosacral through the Upledger Institute to support the whole system, and uses this as a support process for resolving patterns of somatic embedded trauma. During this time, she worked with a pelvic floor therapist and took pelvic floor classes with Herman and Wallace.

Underlying her whole physical therapy career has been a personal journey with a functional medicine approach for her health goals. She started a Functional Medicine Coaching candidacy through the Institute of Functional Medicine, with plans to sit for the National Wellness Board of Holistic and Wellness Coaching next year. She brings all this knowledge to the treatment room, in ultimate hopes to empower patients with complex situations to  navigate their somatic experiences to return to the life they desire to live. She enjoys a movement practice that emphasizes mental health, the outdoors, and social connection: running, dancing, yoga, and hiking. She also occupies her time eating lots of blueberries, practicing her handstands, and contemplating buying a good pair of binoculars to start bird watching.
