About Michael Uttecht
Michael Uttecht is a physical therapist with more than 25 years of clinical experience specializing in Functional Manual Therapy®, orthopedics and sports medicine, complex and chronic conditions, geriatrics, dry needling, and strength and performance training.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from South Dakota State University and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of South Dakota. Michael spent the majority of his career in orthopedic and sports physical therapy at Georgetown University Hospital, where he also accumulated extensive experience in collegiate sports medicine, including work with South Dakota State University, the University of Virginia, and Georgetown University.
Michael completed his post-graduate training through the Institute of Physical Art, earning Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT®) certification with honors. He also holds advanced professional certifications including Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association, Certified Exercise Specialist in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) through the Prague School of Rehabilitation, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and Certified Functional Dry Needling Practitioner through Kinetacore.
In 2023, Michael transitioned from hospital-based practice to launch Uttecht Physical Therapy, a concierge, mobile physical therapy practice. Originally serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area, he now practices in Boulder, Colorado, where Uttecht Physical Therapy provides in-home and on-site physical therapy services to clients at their home, gym, or workplace.
