About Kate McKechnie
A Chicago native, Dr. McKechnie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from Northwestern University in 2010. After her undergraduate schooling, Dr. McKechnie moved to Brooklyn, NY to attend Long Island University – Brooklyn, earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in 2014. While at LIU, Dr. McKechnie began taking courses through the Institute of Physical Art and quickly realized that the Functional Manual Therapy™ approach would set her evaluation and treatment skills apart from other physical therapists.
Dr. McKechnie became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist in 2016, passing with honors.
In addition of treating a wide range of orthopedic diagnoses, Kate is also skilled in treating Women’s Health diagnoses. Dr. McKechnie has taken The Pelvic Floor Series with Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. Women’s Health Rehabilitation has become a passion in her physical therapy practice. She is also certified in Functional Dry Needling.
Dr. McKechnie believes her comprehensive knowledge, as well as a holistic style of assessment and treatment of the whole body is integral to how she assists clients in resolving and managing their movement-related dysfunctions and maintaining general wellness.
