About Karen Hodges
Karen Cook graduated from the UCSF/SFSU Doctorate program in Physical Therapy after studying Psychology at the University of San Diego. She is has since continued her learning through osteopathic manual medicine courses, functional manual therapy education and a fellowship-based lymphoedema and breast cancer management training. Women’s health has become specialty and Karen constantly builds upon her foundations through lymphedoema certification. Her experience as a Division I soccer goalkeeper has enabled her to integrate high-level exercise programs for athletes at all levels. Other techniques implemented include proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and kinesiotaping to reinforce appropriate muscle activation strategies during performance and throughout life. Treating patients as a whole is a primary focus as well as enabling patients to reach their specific goals.
Having received physical therapy at a young age, Karen pursued PT because of her desire to help people reach their highest potential and in order to apply dynamic and effective treatments to a variety of patient populations. Karen continues to play soccer here in SF on a premier league team and enjoys running through Golden Gate Park and competing in various ways with her identical twin sister who lives in Alameda. Treating patients as a whole is a primary focus as well as enabling patients to reach their specific goals.
